The CTLA was established in 1953 and currently counts over 1,300 members. CTLA membership provides several benefits, ranging from continuing legal education (CLE) and training to networking opportunities and professional activities.
Three types of membership are offered. Attorney membership is for professionals who are licensed to practice law before courts in the state, including the Supreme Court, while the legal staff membership is for employees of a CTLA member attorney. The student membership is for those currently enrolled at a qualified law school.
At the CTLA website, there are several resources available for members, such as access to Listserve, an open email forum where experienced trial attorneys share trial tactics and advice, and access to the membership directory, where members can upload their photos and information for referrals. Also, members have access to the online litigation database TrialSmith, which has over 600,000 expert depositions and other trial-related documents.
